Galatians 5:22 says we are to live our lives with love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Our salvation is not qualified by our works and effort, but our maturity in Christ requires deliberate effort and discipline on our part. Yet we are not left on our own — God has given us the Holy Spirit to help us do the work for His kingdom, that ultimately we may be blessed by giving in His name.
